Band Day @ ASU was pretty chill this year. We were not too early in the program that we had to be up at the crack of dawn, but we were early enough that we could go to Arizona Mills for lunch and spend the middle of the day indoors. Nice call, McG!

Written in 1982 and performed that same year for the first time in London, Noises Off is a behind-the-scenes perspective of a stage play. Last performed by WHS in 2008, Noises Off is back as the 2013 WTC opener because, well, its a pretty good play.

The bill included the Women’s Choir, solos from Ashley McCarty, Alex Rios, and Rakell Verdugo, the Concert Choir, duets by Jessica Debusk & Elizabeth Breden and Harry Wilkinson & Michael Dooling, and the mighty Vocal Ensemble. Sweet sounds all night.

Coffee was out of the question because the band was in uniform. So when the bus didn’t show, we walked, which made it not so cold and a little less early feeling. The ABC/Fry’s crew was pretty chill. Fry’s presented WHS Instrumental Music Director Eileen McGonigal with a $100 gift card for the band, which will come in handy this summer for band camp. ABC featured the band four or five times when the feed was live from Fry’s.

The depth of vocal talent in the cast is exciting. When you add to that a collection of energetic dancers, it is likely that the stars will line up for an excellent show.
